Baby Must Haves

If you’re not a completely anti-social individual with a pinch of paranoia thrown in to keep the man at bay, chances are you already know or are going to know someone who is about to have, already had, or desires to have a baby. Of course you have a general idea of what they require—Clothes, bags, blankets, diapers, an arm, a leg, etc. You can’t go to a department store, shopping mall, or bargain store without laying eyes on the quarter portion of the store designated for the little ankle-biters. But, with all those tiny, pastel outfits, bags, and accessories strewn about like obliterated Easter-eggs, it can be difficult to find baby necessities and wearables that reflect not only the individuality of the gift-giver, but also the gift receiver.

We, at Showers, understand this plight all too well. Between all of us, there have been enough births in our families to populate a small island. So, with that in mind- we come to offer help. Today’s must have for baby is something that will stand out, garner attention—not to mention a few laughs—all without putting a major dent in your bank account. Today’s must have is the slogan onesie. Not only is it A-DOR-A-BLE, but it is simple enough to make yourself; should you need to watch a few extra pennies. A blank onsie, some iron-on letters in varying sizes, a hot iron, cheese cloth, and Voila! Instant and memorable baby gift!

I’m sure the writers of Dirty Dancing had no idea this particular line could apply to more than just a rebellious teenage girl.

To be fair, if you want the munchkin’s gear to be made up of the same animals and flowers or sports balls that every other little tyke is sure to be sporting, then by all means, go on down to your local Walmart, Macy’s or JC Penny, pick up a coordinated set or two, and call it a day. However, if you are like us, tired of the same stuff every day all day, then give that baby some personality.

And who knows, when that baby becomes a moody teen, you just may turn out to be the cool auntie or uncle they actually open up to—and all because of a onesie. Think about it.
